Kahaani Hamaarey Mahabharat Ki went on air last Monday on 9X [Aur kahan?]. These three quotes from the first episode stood out for their sheer corniness and, of course, quirkiness.

Sample these.

(1) Dushassan to Draupadi, saying she's the first woman in the world with more than one husband:

Tu Paanchaali nahi, pehli hai.

(Thank goodness, it wasn't for real or else how what would have Hindi lyricists done as they make such blatant use of the word pehli? They'd have to use Paanchali instead. Something like... Woh Paanchali baar jab hum mile)

(2) Draupadi is talking to Yudhishthir when Dushassan interrupts. Draupadi reprimands him saying:

Chup! Main apne pati se baat kar rahi hoon.

(LOL! Poor guy was silenced in the most Balajiesque fashion — dialogue replete with senseless drama. Tulsi, Parvati or Draupadi — the dialougue writer for all of them, is after all, the same. So never mind the lack of imagination.)

(3) Then, Duryodhan ordering Dushassan to make Draupadi sit on his lap:

Dushassan, isse meri janghaa par bithaao!

(Erm, is this how lap dance found its humble origins?)
